Altered Board Book

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. Today I wanted to stop by and share an Art Journal, I created out of a board book that I picked up at a yard sale over the summer.  I wanted to create an art journal with which I could play around with some different techniques.

I took some heavy gesso and covered the entire front and back covers to mute the color pictures on the board book. I then applied some Tim Holtz Idea-olgy tissues paper using some gel medium and added some gesso with a dry bush to fade some of the printed tissue paper. I wanted to add more texture to the front cover so I decided to use some modeling paste and stencils with some sprays using some white, copper and silver.

For the cluster on the front cover I decided to use some of my favorite dies from Die-Namites Dies, the Small Ivy DN-1170 and the Budding Branch DN-1037. I arranged them on the cover in a cluster with some scrap burlap, chipboard, clock face and owl I had laying around in my scrapbook studio.

Urban Memories Layout

Hi everyone
Today I wanted to stop by and share with you a layout that I created using Teresa Collins Urban Market Paper Collection and embellishments.
The picture is of me standing by a tree  that was taken at a lake near by.
I am really in love with Di-namite Dies so I decided to use the sunflower Serenade and leafy flowers to create the flower spray. You can get so many different looks using Die-namite Dies from cutting them apart to coloring or embossing them for various looks.

I also used the Spring Doily from die-namite  at the top and bottom of the photo. I love how the layout came out so crisp and clean.

Die-namite Dies June Challenge

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday Morning!

Die-namite Dies is having a sketch challenge over at their blog with three ways to enter.

  1. Use at least one Die-namite Die
  2. Use the sketch posted on their blog
  3. Incorporate the dare into your creation

I decided to create a card using the Leafy Branch Die-namite Die DN-1046. The card measures  5" x 51/4".

For the background I sprayed a white piece of 4 3/4" x 5" piece of white card stock with some color shine and embossed it with a embossing folder.  Then I cut that piece into 3 panels and adhered them to the card base. The challenge was to use vellum so I cut  doily and I also cut some of the Leafy Branch's out in vellum and applied some embossing powder to give it a gold shine and arrange the pieces on my card base.

Hi everyone! I wanted to stop by today and share this beautiful birdhouse I created using the Marion Smith's Designs Garment District Collection. My living room is decorated in birdhouses and I thought this project would add a perfect touch.

I created spray of flowers using scraps from Marion's Paper Collection for the sides of the birdhouse.

I wanted to share with you the technique I used to create this roof.

Step 1: Cover piece of cardstock in plumbers tape

Step 2: Emboss cardstock that is covered in plumbers tape

Step 3: Cover the piece in black acrylic paint and let dry

Step 4: Take a baby wipe and wipe off the black acrylic paint until you achieve the look you want

Step 6: Take embossing power and cover then heat emboss Until you achieve the look you are wanting

Step 7: To get the aged copper look dry bush patina paint on surface.

Rose Card Tutorial

Happy Sunday to all my crafty friends. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I got these fabulous dies from Die-Namites Dies and could not wait to start creating with them. Today I want to share a card tutorial with the Rosy Rose DN-1009.

Here is how I did the flowers for this card.

Colored water color paper with the pink.

Cut out the die 3 times and attached to the paper I water colored with matt medium.

After attaching to the water colored paper I then cut out the design, to fill in the background of the die.

I used Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Pitt Artist pens  and colored the main part of the rose in Medium Flesh 131 and the outline in Permanent Carmine 126.  Then I heat embossed the roses with Zing clear embossing  which gave the flowers a glossy finish.

Supplies Used:
DCWV Burlap Paper
Lindys Aloha Avocado
Lindys Greased Lightnin' Green
Lindys Green with Envy Green
Faber-Castell Pitt Pen Permanent Carmine 126
Faber-Castell Pitt Pen Medium Flesh 131
Zing Clear Embossing Powder
Golden Molding Paste
